Maps

Most current systems for precision agriculture are focussing on machine guidance in parallel swaths covering the field. Then, just a starting line is sufficient to allow machines to work the field in parallel swaths. More advanced systems use a field boundary and support farmers in headland management or optimisation of swaths, driving patterns and so on.

When moving to variable rate application or using soil variability to make agronomic choices, maps become very important.
